The Interconnectedness of things

I had a bit of a virtual adventure a few months ago, I was messing around with google url search terms and found the relevant snippet for panasonic webcams. One evening, whilst travelling virtually around the world webcam to webcam I decided that I wanted to know more, I picked a webcam and began my search, and after a small bit of sleuthing around I was amazed at how much information you can find.

This is the webcam.

This is the live feed from the webcam, as you can see it's early sunday morning in japan, it's late saturday night here! And marked in this view is where I'm currently standing in google street view!

This is the website of the shop that owns the webcam, and this is the page with their webcam on it.

This is the shops website, on their own feed of the webcam, I've tapped directly into their camera via the other URL.

I’m standing right here on google street view!

Here we are on google maps!

Here we are on google maps!

Recognise the sign, this is one of the landmarks that can be seen from the webcam!

And I can see the shop and the webcam where my virtual self is peeping in over the live feed from here.

This is the shop from the screen above, and there's the webcam that I'm peeping through!!

I love this, this is a point of convergence between a real and artificial space, I especially love looking up at the webcam from google maps, feels like I’m waving to myself over the internet, from the other side of the world.
